Alexey Ilyushkin

PhD candidate at the Distributed Systems Group of the Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS/EWI), Delft University of Technology.

My research interests are in the areas of job scheduling and autoscaling of resources in large computing systems like clusters, multiclusters and clouds.

My main topic is scheduling of workloads of complex scientific jobs (workflows), where each job is represented in the form of a directed acyclic graph (DAG). I am trying to find the appropriate scheduling policies and solve the related algorithmic problems to improve the execution speed of each separate job in a workload, preferably achieve the fair share of computing resources among independent workflows, and keep the high level of system utilization.

Together with the group I am building real scheduling systems such as Koala and running experiments on DAS-4 and DAS-5 supercomputers.

I am cooperating with the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) within the SPEC Research Group to evaluate the performance of autoscaling algorithms and develop metrics and methods for their comparison.

I also assisted in three Computer Science courses for Master students:
Distributed Algorithms (IN4150), Cloud Computing (IN4392) and Distributed Systems (IN4391).
