The focus of my research is on streaming solutions for distributed system, with a particular focus on applied work and experimental results.

My initial work has been on improving existing solutions based on the most popular P2P protocol, BitTorrent. As standard video streaming had been widely investigated, I explored the scalable video coding (SVC) techniques as an alternative streaming solution which fits well in the context of P2P networks. The research on SVC technologies for P2P networks was carried out during the P2P-Next project, of which it is a key component.

Thereafter I collaborated to the design, development and analysis of Libswift, the reference implementation of the upcoming Peer-to-Peer Streaming Peer Protocol (PPSPP) standard at the IETF. After an initial analysis of the protocol's performance and characteristics, I presented some enhancements and technical details of its reference implementation.

My final work has been on a novel solution to enhance the privacy of P2P users, by providing a system that offers backwards compatibility with existing P2P networks.
